Overview

KIDNEYcon is an annual three day educational event with a mission of fostering enthusiasm for research careers in nephrology among residents and fellows and to provide recent updates on relevant kidney topics.

Objectives
  1. After the activity, the participant will be able to: 1) Correctly perform a renal biopsy using proper techniques, 2) nephrologists will be able to effectively communicate with pathologists regarding renal biopsy results, and correctly interpret and recognize the implications of such results. 3) Correctly examine kidney pathology cases using a multi-head scope. Improved communication among these collaborating interdisciplinary physicians will improve the course of care and health outcomes for patients.
  2. After the activity, the participant will be able to: This new excitement around the field of nephrology will promote interest in the field of nephrology for medical students and residents, and inspire fellows and practicing physicians to pursue academic careers and/or engage in research. Attendees will be able to navigate the research pathway and be equipped with the tools needed to achieve career advancement while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
  3. After the activity, the participant will be able to: Apply recent advances and new techniques in the field of nephrology to their everyday practices.
