2017 Geriatrics and Long-Term Care Update

Continuing education for healthcare professionals working with the elderly population, including physicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, nursing home administrators, certified medical directors, pharmacists and other allied health care professionals.

1. Determine the signs and symptoms of dementia.
2. Identify medical and legal issues of impaired drivers.
3. Discuss the role of nutrition in treating chronic conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis and malnutrition in the geriatric population.
4. Discuss changes in healthcare and the impact on the elderly.
5. Identify common chronic health conditions in the geriatric population.
6. Identify issues and best practices in Long Term Care.
7. Discuss new medications and the concerns with some older medications.
