Overview
PESTOLA - Pediatric Endocrine Society of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas - is an annual regional medical conference open to physicians, nurses, and trainees. The goals of PESTOLA are to advance the care of children and adolescents with endocrine disorders within the member area, encourage collaboration with other regional and national organizations, support high quality training of new pediatric endocrinologists within the member area, and advocate for policies that improve care and research in pediatric endocrinology.

Objectives
  1. Describe the mechanism of action of new therapeutics for bone disease
  2. Summarize what we have learned about CFRD from TrialNet
  3. Develop an approach to the treatment of Hypothalamic Obesity
  4. Apply Metabolomics to the care of patients with Obesity and Endocrine Disorders
  5. Acknowledge how and why some patients opt for DIY pumping techniques
  6. Develop a streamlined analysis to patients with hypoglycemia
  7. Adapt current Turners guidelines to clinical practice
  8. Discuss how social media can be used for patient outreach
  9. Define a framework for the discussion of ethical issues in Transgender care
  10. Review treatment of Lipodystrophies
  11. Evaluate patients with thyroid dysfunction and thyroid nodules
  12. Assess children with obesity, and review current guidelines
  13. Demonstrate basic understanding of diabetes in children
  14. Investigate causes of short stature and differentiate from failure to thrive
  15. Recognize early puberty, and identify patients that need referral
