Performance Improvement Workshop

This workshop is designed to assist trauma team to improve the quality of patient care in an efficient, safe and cost-effective way. Faculty will aid participants in developing processes to evaluate care effectiveness throughout the continuum of care through their performance improvement initiatives. Performance improvement (PI) is one of the most common reasons for a trauma center to fail a verification visit and it’s one of the more difficult topics to master. Each participant will leave with readily employable tactics to improve efficiency, fiscal performance and clinical management in their program. The teaching modality features brief presentations of core principles followed by case discussions. Practical, immediately usable solutions to common problems experienced by program staff of trauma centers will be the outcome of this course.

1. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of trauma PI program structure and flow
2. Describe the process for developing solid clinical practice guidelines
3. Recognize common PI problems encountered by the trauma team and methods to resolve them
4. Analyze case presentation provided by the instructors and/or students
