Three day conference on providing services to rape victims. This course is beneficial for healthcare workers is that they may be a part of each stage of the process that a rape victim encounters during progression through the case. A nurse or doctor performs the medical/legal/forensic exam (Rape Kit) to collect evidence at which time they would also likely interact with the advocate. They may also interact with law enforcement that responds if the victim wishes to report to police. The medical personnel then may be contacted by the prosecutor for questions and may have to testify at trial. We feel it is important that medical personnel are familiar with all the stages they may be involved in and also understand best practices and trauma-informed care.

1. Coordinate a plan of care for sexual assault victims among involved disciplines.
2. Recognize common ways a traumatic experience may affect a victim's behavior.
3. Follow a trauma informed process for sexual assault response.
