Overview
Baptist Health Heart Institute Cardiovascular Symposium for the Primary Care Provider's purpose is to improve the healthcare of cardiac and peripheral vascular patients within the Baptist Health system and throughout the state of Arkansas. Evidence shows high mortality and morbidity rates in our state secondary to cardiovascular disease, therefore requiring a need for this symposium.

Objectives
  1. Review ACC/AHA guidelines related to treatment of poorly controlled hypertension
  2. Explain how managing health behaviors and risk factors is important aspect of lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease
  3. Discuss recent advancements and industry updates in pharmacology
  4. Review current HF guidelines/classifications
  5. Review current technological advances in the interventional management of structural heart diseases, including minimally invasive heart valve interventions on aortic, mitral and tricuspid disease
  6. Review role of Cardiac CT int he evaluation of heart disease
  7. Review major causes of edema
  8. Discuss how CV testing can impact CV risk
  9. Review basic normal and abnormal ECG findings
  10. Correctly identify nine basic cardiac murmurs. Differentiate between systolic and diastolic murmurs,
