Overview
The C. W. Rasco Symposium on GI Malignancies focuses on the latest advancements in gastrointestinal cancer therapy. This program explores areas that physicians often face in clinical practice and addresses management updates on a variety of gastrointestinal malignancy topics. During this course, multiple areas of treatment will be covered, which will include, immune therapy, neoadjuvant/adjuvant chemotherapy, somatostatin receptor-based therapy, surgical interventions, proton beam therapy, circulating tumor DNA targeted treatment, and biotherapeutic antibody-drug conjugate application. The structure of the program includes a mix of didactic presentations delivered by expert faculty, case presentations, and numerous question and answer opportunities. Our target audience includes Medical Oncologists, Surgeons, Oncology Fellows, Resident Physicians, Pharmacists, Advanced Practice Partners, Researchers, and Nurses.


Objectives
  1. Discuss adjuvant therapies, such as immunotherapy, surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, for various GI cancers.
  2. Describe the role of somatostatin receptor imaging and therapy in the GI cancer patient.
  3. Review the newest radiation treatment of proton beam therapy as it relates to fewer side effects and better results in GI cancers.
  4. Identify how circulating tumor DNA can be used in GI cancer management and assist physicians with the detection, diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and personalization of treatment.
  5. Recognize complex and/or rare GI oncology patient cases.
  6. Describe the role of the antibody-drug conjugates in the clinical application of GI cancers.
  7. Identify the role of interventional pain techniques used in patients with GI cancer.

In support of improving patient care, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
