Overview

This comprehensive presentation is designed for pharmacists, pharmacy owners, and technicians to enhance their understanding and implementation of point-of-care testing (POCT) services in rural areas. Participants will gain insights into the scope of practice for POCT, including prescribing authority, and will learn practical considerations for effective implementation. The course will cover patient eligibility, documentation requirements, and the potential for medical billing opportunities.

ACPE Credit Designation Statement

These knowledge-based activities will provide pharmacists up to 1.0 contact hours or 0.1 CEU.  CE credit information, based on verification of live attendance and completion of the program evaluation, will be provided to NABP within 60 days after the activity completion. 


Objectives
  1. 1. Review state legislation and pharmacy regulations for point-of-care testing services in each RURAL-CP state.
  2. 2. Describe practical considerations for implementing point of care testing.
  3. 3. Describe appropriate documentation, reporting, and maintenance of patient records related to patient visit
  4. 4. Discuss potential for medical billing opportunities associated with point of care testing.
