Objectives
  1. 1. Describe the stages of the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle for quality improvement. At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to justify the importance of having a Quality Improvement (QI) program within their agency. They will be able to describe the components of the PDSA cycle and demonstrate their use.
  2. Identify potential candidates for ECMO therapy. At the conclusion of the program, prehospital providers will be able to explain the physiology and processes behind ECMO and translate that understanding to categorizing patients who may be appropriate for this therapy.
  3. Apply quality improvement measures to protocols surrounding medication administration and appropriate documentation. EMS providers will demonstrate the ability to apply reviewed standardized protocols for managing agitated patients, peripartum patient, and stroke patients in the field. They will recognize how to appropriately document these encounters so that the PDSA cycle may continue.
