Overview
November is Epilepsy Awareness Month. Epilepsy is a common and serious neurological condition that affects over 50 million people worldwide. Approximately 10 percent of the population will experience at least one seizure in their lifetime. About 30 percent of those who have a first seizure will experience seizure recurrence and thus develop epilepsy

Objectives
  1. Review the clinical features of epilepsy and seizure disorders and the natural history of the disorder.
  2. Discuss the optimal management of epilepsy and seizure disorders using medication, surgery, and other therapies.
  3. Describe the role of a multidisciplinary approach in optimizing patient outcomes.
  4. Report the current status of clinical treatments and locally available opportunities for epilepsy and seizure disorders.
