The 2025 Colonel William Randy Holland Memorial Lecture on Melanoma

This annual lecture was established in honor of the late Col. William “Randy” Holland of the Arkansas National Guard, who died of melanoma in 2007, and in gratitude for the UAMS physicians, nurses and staff who treated and assisted him during his three-year battle with cancer. The goal of the series is to increase awareness of melanoma prevention, diagnosis, treatment and research. This year's speaker is Anna S. Clayton, M.D. Dr. Clayton is an Associate Professor of Dermatology, Director of the Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology Fellowship, and Director of Surgical Dermatology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. On September 4 at 4 p.m., Dr. Clayton will give a lecture titled "A Practical Guide to The Diagnosis and Management of Primary Cutaneous Melanoma" in the Sam Walton Auditorium on the 10th floor of the Cancer Institute.

AMA Credit Designation Statement

1. List and describe risk factors for development of primary cutaneous melanomas
2. Describe current practice guidelines for treatment of melanoma (based on NCCN 2025)
3. Correctly and appropriately diagnose stage primary cutaneous melanoma and determine appropriate treatment per NCCN guidelines
